Magnetek Announcement
Magnetek, a leading supplier of AC drives for high-rise traction elevator applications, recently announced the first installation of the Quattro® AC Elevator Drive. Magnetek’s Quattro drives are part of a ThyssenKrupp-Australia modernization project of six elevators at 2 Longsdale, Melbourne, Australia, in conjunction with Computerized Elevator Control Corporation’s SWIFT FUTURA controller interface and ThyssenKrupp’s SC 400 PMC.

Quattro AC is Magnetek’s newest green elevator drive solution to follow Magnetek’s Quattro DC Elevator Drive, which has been a market success with over 800 units purchased for high-rise installations in cities such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, London, Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Hong Kong and Hamburg.

“Quattro offers proven energy savings, lower installation costs and superior ride quality. Quattro consumes the lowest energy possible through regenerative technology,” said Mark Wilson, Magnetek Sales Manager. “Installing Quattro will often help building owners qualify for utility energy rebates.”

Quattro AC has achieved an impressive near unity power factor of over 0.95, which means that the current that flows is being used to produce useful work as efficiently as possible rather than producing wasted heat in the electrical distribution system. In addition, Quattro’s clean utility-side drive harmonics mean reduced heating and better utilization of existing distribution line equipment, plus prevention of interference with other user apparatus.

Setup and adjusting Quattro is easy because it uses Magnetek’s familiar control interface that has been designed into our HPV® AC elevator drives installed worldwide. The Quattro AC is designed specifically for elevator duty and it’s precise, accurate control provides smooth acceleration and deceleration.
